The labor force in the Rome area held steady from July to August, according to the latest numbers from the Georgia Department of Labor.
There were 44,800 jobs last month, which was the same as the month before.
However, when compared to August of 2022, that number is up by 1,800.
The labor department also reported first-time claims for unemployment insurance in Floyd County fell by nearly 46 percent from July to August.
There were 228 initial claims last month, compared to 419 the month before.
There were 287 claims reported in August of last year.
