Wednesday afternoon Floyd County 911 received a call reporting that smoke could be seen coming from a two story-residence on Sherwood Road Southwest just off of Shorter Avenue.

The Rome-Floyd Fire Department was dispatched to the area to find heavy smoke coming out from the second story of the structure.

Firefighters responded and knocked back the fire quickly with no damage to other structures.
No one was injured as a result of the incident.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Rome-Floyd Fire Department at the time of this preliminary report.
