Two teens charged with murder in Bartow

(Via WBHF Radio) According to Bartow Sheriff Clark Millsap, on Monday, May 22, 2023, at approximately 2040 hours, Agents with the GBI, Bartow-Cartersville Drug Task Force, Smyrna Police Department, and BCSO Deputies and Investigators arrested two brothers in the Tuesday, May 16, 2023, death of Caleb Demond Thomas, 19, of Marietta which occurred in the area of Parkway Station Drive SE and Grand Central Way SW, Cartersville, Bartow County, Georgia.

Dayton Bryan Owen, 19, and Drysten Owen, 15, both of Smyrna, were taken into custody for the outstanding Arrest Warrants for Murder without incident in the area of their Belmont Avenue home in Smyrna. Drysten has been charged as an adult.

Dayton Owen is being held in the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office Adult Detention Center without bond. Drysten Owen is being held in a youth detention center without bond and pending judicial hearings.

According to the press release issued one week ago, the Victim/ Caleb Demond Thomas, 19, of Marietta, was treated on scene by first responders and transported to Piedmont Cartersville Hospital, where he passed away due to his injuries. Witnesses reported a silver in color, four-door, Toyota Tacoma was parked in the cul-de-sac of Parkway Station Drive, and Thomas was seen running from the vehicle. Two unknown males chased down Thomas and assaulted him before leaving in the Toyota.

The Driver was described as a white male in his twenties wearing no shirt, and the passenger was also described as a white male in his twenties.
