Friday morning the public was invited to honor the service and legacy of local law enforcement with the 2023 Rome/Floyd County Peace Officers Memorial Service.

The Peace Officer Memorial Service, which comes as a part of National Police Week, began at the Law Enforcement Complex Memorial Plaza and featured an honor roll that included the names of 20 law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty from 1874 to 2011.

Flowers were bestowed by members of the community to honor the life and legacy of the fallen in the memorial plaza.
