According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at approximately 7:47 p.m., Patrol Deputies and Investigators were dispatched to the area of Parkway Station Drive SE near Grand Central Way SE, Cartersville, Bartow County, Georgia in reference to an assault in progress later determined to be a homicide.

The Victim/ Caleb Demond Thomas, 19, of Marietta, was treated on scene by first responders and transported to Piedmont Cartersville Hospital where he passed away as a result of his injuries. Witnesses reported a silver in color, four-door, Toyota Tacoma was parked in the cul-de-sac of Parkway Station Drive and Thomas was seen running from the vehicle. Two unknown male subjects chased down Thomas and assaulted him prior to leaving in the Toyota.

The Driver was described as a white male in his twenties wearing no shirt and the Passenger was also described as a white male also in his twenties.
