A Calhoun man was arrested on Saturday after a high-speed chase through four counties.

Cpl. Kieth Flowers with the Georgia State Patrol told WZQZ News that the pursuit began when a state trooper noticed a yellow sports bike traveling at a high rate of speed on Georgia Highway 53 in Gordon County.

The motorcyclist continued into Floyd County where the trooper lost visual.  A short time later, Trooper Moseley saw the bike on Highway 27, just south of Summerville.

The trooper attempted to stop the driver, but the driver continued at a high rate of speed through Summerville and Trion and into southern Walker County.

The trooper experienced mechanical failure and gave up the pursuit just inside the Walker County line, but Walker County Sheriff’s Deputies were able to apprehend the man a couple of miles into Walker County on Highway 27.

The driver of the motorcycle told troopers that he fled because he thought he had a warrant.

Cpl. Flowers told WZQZ that the driver will be facing drug charges as well because a quantity of methamphetamine was found in his backpack.

The driver, whose name has yet to be released, will face charges in Gordon and Walker Counties.
