Around 3,537 Georgia Power customers were still without power as of 8 a.m. Saturday, following a strong storm that prompted the National Weather Service to issue of Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the area at around 6 a.m.

The largest power outage impacts more than 1,000 households in the area of Horseleg Creek Road, going to the West Rome Bypass. Another 1,000 Georgia Power customers are affected in the Celanese/Riverside community. Power lines were damaged near the roundabout on Chatillon Drive just past the Floyd County Board of Education offices.

You can get more information regarding restoration times via the Georgia Power Outage Map.

The storm was brief but intense, with gusty winds and frequent lightning.

It’s part of the same system that spawned tornadoes to the west and north of Georgia overnight.
