Two facing aggravated animal cruelty charges

Two more people have been arrested in connection with an alleged case of animal cruelty at a residence on Big Indian Trail.

According to arrest warrants on file at the Floyd County Jail:

31-year-old Codi Floyd Bell and 33-year-old Stephen Clifford Bell failed to provide a dog named “Ruby” adequate food to the point where the dog was left seriously disfigured.

Both are charged with felony aggravated cruelty to animals.

38-year-old Derrick James Pope and 42-year-old Kelly Denise Abney were arrested on Mar. 6 on the same charges.

Man accused of using someone else’s credit card to make purchases in Rome

A Whitesburg, Georgia man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Monday on three counts of financial transaction card fraud.

According to the arrest warrants:

32-year-old Nicolas Antonio Wood made two purchases at Hibbett’s Sporting Goods for $460.10 and $439.75 using someone else’s card.

He also made a purchase at the nearby Kroger using the same card for $302.26.

The transactions occurred in December, according to the warrant.

Atlanta man implicated in scheme to bring contraband into Floyd County Prison

An Atlanta man has been arrested on warrants charging him with conspiracy to commit a felony and possession of items prohibited for inmates.

According to the warrants:

27-year-old Rontavis Stephen Stripling Sr. conspired with two other people to have contraband delivered to the site of a work detail with the ultimate destination being the Floyd County Prison.

Calls recorded on the prison phone system showed that Stripling provided a cell phone and charger to one of the people, who then packaged those items, along with more than 55 grams of tobacco and rolling papers inside a Pringle’s potato chip canister.

The canister was then left at the Bartow County Recycling Center to be retrieved by an inmate.

Man charged with meth possession

A Rome man was arrested Monday after he was reportedly found with methamphetamine in his right front pocket.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

50-year-old Stephen Heath Massengale was arrested at a location on Shorter Avenue at Leon Street.

He is charged with possession of methamphetamine.

Felony marijuana possession charges filed against Rome man

A 36-year-old Rome man was jailed Monday on drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Anthony Lamar Greene Jr. had more than an ounce of marijuana inside multiple sandwich bags and a digital scale while at a location on Pearl Street.

Greene is charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, and possession of drug-related objects.

He is also being held for a probation violation.

Report: Woman failed to charge court-ordered electronic monitoring device

A 36-year-old Rome woman has been arrested on a felony warrant charging her with interference with an electronic monitoring device.

According to the warrant:

Lachanda Chervon Daniel failed to charge the device, allowing it to become inoperable.

Daniel is required to wear the device as a bond condition for a pretrial release.
