According to a report by the Calhoun Times, a pedestrian was struck and killed attempting to cross Highway 53 in Calhoun on Wednesday night.

Georgia State Patrol reported that 57-year-old Helen Louise Fain was struck by a Ford F-150 traveling westbound near the Curtis Parkway intersection around 7:30 p.m.

She had apparently been staying at the Travel Lodge and may have been crossing to buy food. 

Fain was taken to AdventHealth Gordon for treatment where she was later pronounced dead.
