The public is invited to a special Arbor Day celebration this coming Friday at the GE Trails on Redmond Circle in West Rome.

“From 1 until 2 p.m., we are going to have a celebration, accompanied by both our city and county Future Farmers of America,” said Hannah Bagley with Keep-Rome Floyd Beautiful. “We are very appreciative of their efforts. They will be planting something to frame the beautiful walk-ins. They are a little bit ugly right now, but they are about to make them pretty. It’s also going to give life to our pollinators. So, they’ve done something awesome and we’re very excited to incorporate both of our school systems.”

Also, for the first time, large-growth trees will be planted.

“I’m thankful to our public works division and all their arborists for all their hard work in making this possible,” Bagley added. “I’m just the one who orchestrates the event. They are the ones who make it happen.”

Nationally, Arbor Day is observed in April but in Georgia, it’s in February to coincide with tree planting season.
