Calhoun Police Department –

The Calhoun Police Department announced on Wednesday that Human remains were found in a small wooded area just off Piedmont Street near downtown Calhoun.

The remains were discovered Monday by detectives from the Calhoun Police Department who were conducting a search of the area as part of an investigation pertaining to a missing person.

Chief Tony Pyle stated that they have spoken with relatives of a person that has been missing for several months and believe this could be this person but are working with the medical examiner to positively identify the remains.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Scene Unit has been called in to process the scene.
