Man charged with lottery fraud

A Rome man, already in the Floyd County Jail, has been charged with six counts of fraud against the Georgia Lottery.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

41-year-old Patrick Rodricas Smith cashed three stolen lottery tickets at a store on Redmond Circle and then received cash and three additional tickets in return.

The incident occurred on Jan. 17, according to the report.

Smith has been in jail since Friday after being arrested on charges of conspiracy to commit a felony and use of a communications facility to commit a crime involving drugs.

Report: Woman conspired with inmates to deliver drugs to the recycling center

A 37-year-old Adairsville woman is facing charges in an alleged conspiracy to bring drugs into the Floyd County Prison.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Anne Therese Lohse conspired with four others to possess and distribute 32 grams of methamphetamine, and 257 grams of marijuana when she placed a bag containing the drugs into a trash can in front of the Rome-Floyd County Recycling Center on Oct. 19.

Two inmates are seen on video pointing in the direction of where the bag was placed and two other inmates arranged the drop via the prison’s phone system.

Lohse is charged with conspiracy to violate Georgia’s Controlled Substances Act, possession of marijuana and methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, and possession of items prohibited for inmates.

She was also charged with possession of drugs near a school because West End Elementary is within 1,000 feet of the recycling center on Lavender Drive.
