Cave Spring man arrested for aggravated battery

A Cave Spring man was jailed early Thursday on a felony charge of aggravated battery.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

31-year-old Michael Kyle Thomas struck the victim, leaving disfiguring marks and visible blood flow.

The victim also sustained a swollen eye.

Thomas was additionally charged with a misdemeanor count of battery in connection with the incident that occurred at his Buttermilk Road home.

Alabama man facing drug charges

A Centre, Alabama man initially charged with criminal trespass is also facing drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

37-year-old Joshua Randall Smith went onto property on Fosters Mill Road in Cave Spring after being legally evicted.

He was then found with suspected methamphetamine in his pocket and a glass smoking device, resulting in charges of possession of meth and possession of drug-related objects.

Police investigating vehicle break-ins

Rome Police were dispatched to 1349 Redmond Circle early Wednesday morning to a report of individuals attempting to enter vehicles.

According to a Rome Police report:

Officers found three vehicles with their doors ajar.

Items had been strewn about the interiors of the vehicles and the glove boxes were open.

The subjects left the area in a white Lexus, according to the report.

Meanwhile, Floyd County Police have also reported that officers have seen a rash of vehicle break-ins in the Garden Lakes area and are reminding the public to lock their car doors, take valuables out of their vehicles, and hide items that would tempt potential criminals.

Man charged with meth possession

A Rome man has been arrested on a felony warrant charging him with possession of methamphetamine.

According to the warrant:

50-year-old William Justin Himes was found with suspected meth at a location on Youngs Mill Road in Kingston back on Jul. 12, 2022.
