Hays State Prisoner accused of being Gang Mastermind in 10-County Investigation

(WZQZ Radio:) Georgia Governor Brian Kemp recently announced the prosecution of several alleged gang members with ties to national gangs.  The arrests were part of a 10-county investigation in Georgia, that included Chattooga County.  The alleged leader of the 183 Gangster Bloods is incarcerated at Hays State Prison in Chattooga County.  Authorities say thirty-nine-year-old Jamar Ramsay, who is serving a life sentence is the mastermind of the gang.

As well as conspiracy charges for all 17, the alleged members of the 183 Gangster Bloods gang network are being accused of 136 crimes, including murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery, trafficking in fentanyl, trafficking in methamphetamine, trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm by a first offender probationer, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, terroristic threats, criminal damage to property in the first degree and arson, according to a statement from Kemp’s office.

Kemp said that in the upcoming General Assembly session, he would support legislation to increase penalties for those who try to recruit children into gangs.
