FLOYD COUNTY JAIL RECORDS

A Rome man is accused of fleeing from police during a traffic stop at Old Summerville Road at Scenic Road late Friday.

According to Floyd County Jail records, 43-year-old Sheldon Veronteshon Whatley refused to stop his vehicle for police who were trying to pull him over for speeding.

Once stopped, Whatley ran because he had a suspended license and outstanding warrants.

He is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, speeding, DUI, and driving with a suspended license.

Whatley was also charged with child endangerment because there was a 10-year-old in the vehicle.
