The City of Rome Government –

The city anticipates spending more than $2 million on improvements to Banty Jones Park including a Splash Pad.

Rome Community Development Director Bekki Fox explained to the Joint Services committee Tuesday

that the improvements to Banty are just one phase of the overall East Rome Choice Neighborhood Plan. The Greater East Rome community is bounded by Norfolk Southern Railroad, East 12th Street, Flannery Street, and US 27 South.

“We want to make it a premier park and we think it can be,” Fox told city and county leaders.

The committee also was briefed on plans to seek citizen input into the next potential Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax package that would begin very soon.
