The Red Cross saw a steep drop in blood and platelet donations last month, and donors are asked to make appointments now to prevent a blood shortage this summer.
Every day the Red Cross must collect more than 13,000 pints of blood for patients across the country.
You can encourage family and friends to join you in donating at the American Red Cross Northwest Georgia chapter office this Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The office is located at 112 John Maddox Drive in Rome.
Drives will also be held at the chapter office on July 18th and July 27th from 2 until 7 p.m.
A pint of blood from you could be a gift of life for someone in need.
