Report: Woman accused of having stolen checks

A 39-year-old Rome woman has been jailed on a felony count of 3rd-degree forgery after she was found with a check for $2,500 that was written without the owner’s permission.

According to Floyd County Jail records, Jennifer Michelle Ford admitted to receiving numerous checks that she knew had been stolen out of a mailbox.

She was also found with a plastic baggie containing suspected methamphetamine and a glass smoking device.

Ford is also accused of crossing the guard line at the jail with meth.

She was additionally charged with possession of meth, possession of drug-related objects, theft by receiving stolen property, and possession of items prohibited for inmates.
