Georgia gas prices decreased seven cents compared to a week ago.

Georgia motorists are now paying an average price of $4.40 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline.

According to Montrae Waiters with AAA, if crude oil continues to decline, it is possible gas prices will follow suit this week as more than 1.3 million Georgians prepare to hit the road for the 4th of July holiday weekend.

Local averages on Monday were $4.34 in Floyd County, $4.37 in Bartow County, $4.32 in Gordon County, and $4.40 in Polk County.

Chattooga County had the cheapest gas at $4.11 a gallon.
