Floyd County Schools has been able to recover the remaining funds that were stolen from an outside source as the result of a recent spearphishing incident.
According to a news release from the school system:
“We are extremely grateful for the assistance of the Floyd County Police Department, Chief Mark Wallace, and Major Jeff Jones as well as Ana Rodriguez with Lakeside National Bank during this cyber security investigation and full recovery.”
Nearly $195,000 was stolen from the school system on June 7 after the school system was victim to a business email compromise.
Nearly $190,000 was recovered a couple of days later thanks to police and the bank.
