Bartow Fire & Emergency Service Units make River Rescue

On Thursday at approximately 6:42 PM, Bartow County Fire and Emergency Service units responded to a call for water rescue.

The caller said his friend was stuck on a tube in the water. BCFES arrived on the scene to find a male subject stranded in the middle of the river, standing on a rock in the water.

Swift Water Rescue Team members along with engine 6 crews were able to reach the victim with a rescue boat. Crews were able to get the victim into the boat and back to the boat ramp.

The subject said he was not injured and did not need medical treatment or transport to the hospital.

Everyone is encouraged to wear a life jacket while in the water.

There have been three drowning deaths on Lake Allatoona in the past two months, and none of the victims were wearing life jackets.
