Pedestrian fatality on Turner McCall Boulevard

UPDATE – 4:45 p.m.

Turner McCall Boulevard between East 12th Street and East 8th Street was closed for about two hours Monday morning following a fatal accident involving a pedestrian.

According to Rome Police, the pedestrian, identified as 40-year-old Cedric Floyd, appears to have crossed the east side of Turner McCall, walking along the opposite side of the road.

Floyd apparently ran out in front of a Ford F-150

He was pinned underneath the pickup truck and died.

The Rome Police Department is investigating.

Turner McCall Boulevard and East 12th Street have been reopened.

The roads were closed early this morning due to a fatal accident involving a pedestrian and a motor vehicle.

Rome Police are at the scene of a fatal accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Turner McCall Boulevard in the area of Zaxby’s.

According to 911, Turner McCall is closed from the interchange to East 8th Street.

Traffic is currently being rerouted down Dean Ave to E 2nd Ave.

There is no estimated time for reopening.

Please avoid that area if at all possible.
