[VIDEO] NWGA Elder Abuse Task Force holds Symposium at Rome Civic Center

The Northwest Georgia Elder Abuse Task Force held a symposium on Wednesday morning at the Rome Civic Center.

A panel of experts from various agencies was present to speak to the community on topics such as scams that target the elderly and also address any topics of concern from the crowd.

Floyd County Police Investigators Brittany Werner and Misty Pledger were honored with the Pat King Award for their work in going above and beyond the call of duty in working to uncover the physical abuse of an elderly victim in a criminal case.

Floyd County Investigator Amber Lopez was also given an award along with Judge J. Edgar Hulsey Jr of the Tallapoosa Judicial Circuit, and Brandon Trapp of Synovus Bank in Rome for their cooperated work which lead to protecting an elderly victim from a large scale theft case that would have lead to financial disaster for the victim.
