Georgia Secretary of State’s Office –

Early voting for the May 24 primary election continues.

Floyd County voters can cast ballots at the new elections office located in the health department building on East 12th Street and at the Anthony Recreation Center in Garden Lakes between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays.

You can also vote this Saturday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. or Sunday from 1 until 5 p.m. at the election’s office.

There will be no weekend voting at the Anthony Recreation Center.

In addition to contests for Governor, the US Senate, and the US House of Representatives, voters will also be deciding primary contests for State Senate and State House.

There is also a vote for the continuation of a one-penny sales tax for education that Rome and Floyd County voters will be deciding.

The Georgia Secretary of State’s Office is reporting that voters are turning out in record numbers across the state.

Through Wednesday, May 11th, just under 270,000 people have early voted in Georgia—a 235% increase from the same point in the early voting period in the 2018 primary election and a 159% increase in the same point in the early voting period in the 2020 primary election.

Georgia has had record early voting turnout since the first day of early voting this year, surging to nearly three times the number on the first day of primary voting in 2018 and double that of 2020, and has continued on that path since.

“The record early voting turnout is a testament to the security of the voting system and the hard work of our county election officials,” said Georgia Secretary of State Raffensperger. “As Secretary of State, I promised to strike a strong balance between access and security in our elections, and these numbers demonstrate that I kept that promise and that voters have confidence in Georgia’s elections.”

While reports of lines have been minimal thus far, early voting turnout is expected to increase during the last week of early voting next week. All counties will have mandatory Saturday voting this coming Saturday.
