Rome City Commission meets Monday

A packed agenda awaits Rome City Commissioners when they meet Monday night.

Rome City Manager Sammy Rich will give a State of the City presentation and commissioners are expected to set the qualifying fee for Rome Board of Education candidates for 2022.

The fee will be 3% of the annual salary for board members and will be paid by candidates who qualify from August 15 through August 19.

Commissioners are also expected to revisit a rezoning application for the former Northwest Georgia Regional Hospital property,

The request from the Rome-Floyd County Development Authority was tabled during the commission’s April 25 meeting.

Second reading of an ordinance amendment requiring security guards at pouring establishments and package stores to obtain an alcohol sales permit is also on the agenda along with an ordinance amendment regarding local limits for discharges into public sewers.

During the caucus, Renee Poplin with the Free Clinic of Rome will be on-hand to give a presentation.

The caucus starts at 5 p.m. followed by the regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Rome City Hall.
