Man killed in Chattooga County fire identified

Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader has confirmed the identity of a Lyerly man who lost his life in a house fire off of Highway 114 on Thursday evening. 

The victim has been identified as sixty-eight-year-old Danny Ray Millican. 

Sheriff Schrader said that deputies, firefighters, and Redmond EMS were dispatched to Millican’s residence around 7:35 PM Thursday. 

The sheriff says that public safety personnel made every effort to rescue Millican, but were unable to do so. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
