Rome City Schools Board of Education voted to approve the appointment of McKensey Wheeler as the new assistant principal of West Central Elementary.
Wheeler currently serves at West Central as the Instructional Specialist. Before her current position, she has taught third and fifth grades since 2011 at West Central. While serving the students in the classroom, she has worked in many capacities to facilitate the education of RCS students. Some of those responsibilities include:
-ASPIRE After School Teacher
-Performing Arts Coordinator
-Summer Opportunity Program Teacher
-Team Leader for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
-Math Team Coach
-Step Team Advisor
-Science Curriculum Revision Team
-Student Support Team Coordinator
-Assistant Testing Coordinator
-Black History Month Chair
Wheeler holds a Bachelor of Science from Tuskegee University in Early Childhood Education. She also holds a Master of Education in Early Childhood Education from The University of West Georgia. Additionally, Wheeler has a certification in Curriculum and Instruction from Piedmont College, a Math Endorsement from Northwest Georgia Regional Education Service Agency (RESA), and a certification in Leadership Tier I from the University of West Georgia.
