STAFF REPORTS

The Rome City Commission is expected to discuss participation in a low-income household water assistance program when they meet Monday night.

Water and sewer committee chairman Jim Bojo brought up the program during the last city commission meeting.

“Tallatoona has brought us the possibility of $600,000 to help pay water bills for those who cannot afford it,” he said.

Commissioner Bill Collins said he hope the city can find a way to participate.

“Especially with us having this increase of 9% added to a lot of these people’s water bills, I think this $600,000 could come in handy,” Collins added.

The commission will also read proclamations for Fair Housing Month, Motorcycle Awareness Month, National Community Development Week, National Garden Week, and Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

The regular meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at Rome City Hall.

During the caucus, which begins at 5 p.m., commissioners will hear a presentation from Hannah Bagley with Keep Rome-Floyd Beautiful.
