Rome City Schools congratulates district winners in young authors competition

NEWS RELEASE

Three Rome City Schools students earned a first-place win in the Young Georgia Authors (YGA) writing competition. 

For more than two decades, the YGA writing competition has encouraged students to build enthusiasm for writing while developing and improving skills and celebrating writing successes. The competition strives to recognize student achievement in arts and academics.

The first-place winners will advance to the state-level competition.

Congratulations to Rome City Schools Young Georgia Authors Region Winners:

East Central:

First place winner, fifth grade – “Moving On” by Susan Harper Smith

First place winner, sixth grade – “Anxiety” by Brighton Turner

Elm Street:

First place winner, second grade – “Hope to the Rescue” by Brinley Harrison

Honorable Mention, Kindergarten – “Maria’s Dream Adventure” by Evelyn Ontiveros
