The Rome-Floyd County Fire Department has named its new deputy fire chief.

“I did complete deputy chief interviews on Wednesday,” said Rome Fire Chief Troy Brock during Thursday’s Floyd County Public Safety Committee meeting.  “Brad Roberson is the new deputy chief.  He will replace Curt Pierson, who is retiring at the end of the month after 37 years.”

Chief Brock said Pierson will be honored later this month.

“We are doing a retirement reception from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on March 31 downstairs in the education center,” he said.  “Drop-in, and see him off.”

Roberson is currently a division chief.

He brings 24 years of experience to his new position.
