A man has been arrested following a shooting on Fieldwood Drive in Adairsville.

According to Bartow County Jail records, 31-year old William David Fletcher is charged with family violence murder involving a firearm.

WBHF Radio in Cartersville is reporting the victim is Fletcher’s mother.

Shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday, parents of Adairsville students were notified of an incident occurring in a subdivision behind the school that required campus police officers, administrators, and teachers on duty to clear the parking lot and bring all students inside.  

Within 30 minutes, officers notified school officials that a suspect was in custody and confirmed there was no threat to the school.
