Floyd County Commission meets Tuesday

March 7, 2022–5:55 p.m.

STAFF REPORTS

Floyd County Commissioners will consider a recommendation from the county attorney to approve a consent order between the State Election Board and the Floyd County Board of Elections when they meet Monday.

Last month, the elections board voted to approve the settlement regarding 2,600 votes that were found during an audit that was not included in the original certified results during the 2020 Election.

An investigator from the secretary of state’s office found no intentional wrongdoing on behalf of the board.

What happened was a scanner jammed during early voting after a voter fanned herself with a paper ballot.

Voters are instructed not to fold or damage the paper ballot in any way from the time they vote until the time they put the paper ballot in the scanner.

The consent order includes a $3,000 fine.

The regular commission meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the county administration building on East 4th Avenue.

During the caucus, which starts at 4 p.m., there will be a presentation by the Floyd County Police Department regarding speed enforcement cameras.
