Shannon Wallace, District Attorney for the Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit, has accepted the position of District Attorney Pro Tem in the case of Gordon County Commission Chair Becky Hood and her husband Scott.

Because of Hood’s position with the county, former Cherokee Judicial Circuit DA Rosemary Greene rescued the Gordon DA’s office in early 2021 and asked that a DA Pro Tem be appointed.

The Calhoun Times reports that according to that letter from Greene, the allegations against the Hoods pertain to alleged “child physical and sexual abuse.”

According to the administrative order from the Georgia Attorney General’s Office, Wallace will act as DA “for the time period beginning from investigation, arrest, or Grand Jury proceedings, whichever comes first, until all appeals are exhausted.”

Hood announced last month that she would not be seeking re-election.

The GBI began its investigation into the allegations in January of last year.
