Minor traffic shift on Taylor’s Ridge Thursday

February 16, 2022–10:57 a.m.

STAFF REPORTS

Motorists on Taylors Ridge in Chattooga County will notice a slight traffic shift starting today.

Signs are posted in the area on Highway 27, and Joe Schulman with the Georgia Department of Transportation said it’s not a major shift.

It is part of an ongoing project to stabilize the roadway.

Phase I was an interim project that saw the installment of drainage to help remove water from the soil.

Teams are now taking soil samples and discussions regarding Phase II will start this summer.

Phase II will include the construction of a wall on the southern slope and possibly the northern slope to stabilize the slopes.

That work is expected to get underway in 2023.
