Two Lindale residents have been arrested on three counts of cruelty to animals, 27 counts of aggravated cruelty to animals, and three counts of 1st-degree cruelty to children.

According to Floyd County Jail records, 27-year old Shannon Renee Byars and 22-year old Dayton Levi Harvey deprived three children of necessary sustenance and clean shelter.

They also failed to provide adequate food, water, habitats, and sanitary conditions or ventilation for 27 animals at their Circle Drive residence.

The animals included eight dogs, eight snakes, a turtle, a cat, a Guinea pig, a ferret, three chickens, and four lizards.

One of the snakes and one lizard died as a result of the neglect.

Byars and Harvey also owned three pigs that were being kept in an enclosure too small for their size.
