Severe storms possible overnight

January 1, 2022–7:24 p.m.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE

An enhanced risk for severe weather still includes far northwestern GA through tomorrow.

Timeframe: Main severe threat will be OVERNIGHT tonight, primarily after midnight.  There is an isolated chance of discrete cells forming well ahead of the main cold front this afternoon, and any that do form will carry the same hazards listed in the graphic.

Hazards: The primary hazards remain damaging wind gusts, a few brief tornadoes, and hail. Flash flooding is possible, notably as the front stalls across central GA tomorrow morning, especially for areas that received heavy rainfall on Thursday. Turn around, don’t drown.

Please ensure you have multiple ways to receive warnings tonight before you go to sleep and keep your phone/weather radio volume at a level that will wake you if any warnings are issued.
