December 29, 2021–11:12 a.m.

STAFF REPORTS

Due to the rapidly spreading COVID 19 OMICRON Variant, the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office and Jail will be reinstating precautionary measures to help ensure the well-being of the public, staff, and inmate population.

The Sheriff’s Office lobby and the jail lobby will be closed.

All inmate visitations will be online and service will not be interrupted.

We also checked in with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office regarding the increase of COVID-19 cases in the area.

The Floyd County Jail also has procedures and precautions in place to assist in limiting the spread of the virus.

The jail does have a few inmate cases.

Those individuals are receiving medical care on a regular basis and are quarantined from the general population.

Visitation at the Floyd County Jail is done online.

The administration lobby is open but there are scheduled times.

Most of the admin visits are for people needing to get fingerprinted and a background check for employment. Prior to getting fingerprinted, they are screened, with their temperature taken and a mask is mandatory during the process.
