[VIDEO] RomeGACares activated for Kentucky tornado relief

On Tuesday the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office activated Rome GA Cares and announced their plan to leave on January 3rd to assist the Mayfield Kentucky area after tornadoes recently devastated their community and the surrounding area. 

The group is asking for help from the community to donate supplies that will help them provide relief and aid to the affected areas.

****The needs of the affected Kentucky communities are as follows:

Socks, undergarments, blankets, coats, warm clothing, shoes, utility gloves, gas generators, flashlights, headlamp lights, batteries, phone chargers, gas cans, paper towels, plastic utensils, paper plates, feminine hygiene products, baby formula, diapers, toiletries, bottled water, non-perishable food, dog & cat food, tarps (large & small), children toys, stuffed animals, backpacks, juice boxes, small packs of candy, Christmas candy, miscellaneous items to give to children.

All of the below drop off locations will be open to the public during the following days & hours:

Wednesday 12/15 – Friday 12/17; 8 AM – 5 PM

Monday 12/20 – Wednesday 12/22; 8 AM – 5 PM

****You can bring cash or checks to the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office at the Floyd County Jail (2526 New Calhoun Hwy, Rome, GA 30161). Checks should be made out to RomeGACares c/o Chaplain Thornton and either brought to the Sheriff’s Office or mailed to 3 Government Plz, Suite 110 Rome, GA 30161.
