Police respond to bomb threat at West Central Elementary

ROME CITY SCHOOLS NEWS RELEASE

1:45 PM UPDATE: Rome Police have stated that West Central Elementary has been cleared, and that police are beginning to resume normal operations.

Administrators at West Central Elementary School received notice of a bomb threat at the school.

Students have been evacuated to a designated location in accordance with the school’s safety and security plan.

Lavender Drive has been closed to traffic and local law enforcement is currently on the scene conducting an investigation.

We ask that parents refrain from going to the school so as not to hinder the investigation process.

The school’s safety plan is active and all are currently at the designated location in accordance with the safety plan.

As always, safety and security are priorities for our students, faculty, and staff. Parents will be notified of any updates to the emergency situation as information becomes available.

Rome Police have responded to West Central Elementary due to a bomb threat.

Students have been transported to another location so police can search the school.

Lavender Drive is closed between Woodbine Avenue and Redmond.
