Single-vehicle wreck in Calhoun sends one to the hospital

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a one-vehicle wreck Thursday morning that sent an Adairsville man to the hospital.

The wreck occurred at sound 10:05 am on Highway 53 in Calhoun.

The preliminary investigation found that a 2018 Jeep Cherokee traveled off the south side of the roadway and struck a large rock with its undercarriage.

It continued east off the south side of the roadway and struck a mile marker sign with its left front.

After impact, the Jeep continued east along the south side of the roadway and then struck the backside of a guardrail face with its left side before striking another traffic sign support.

It then overturned onto its right side and came to rest facing east.

It appeared the driver, 71-year old Glen Wesley, suffered some type of medical emergency causing him to lose control of his vehicle.
