The Rome City and Floyd County Commissions will get a COVID-19 update from the local medical community during a specially called meeting Thursday afternoon.

The meeting will be in the Rome City Auditorium at 5 pm.

Commissioners will hear from the Georgia Department of Public Health, Redmond Regional Medical Center, Floyd Medical Center, and Harbin Clinic.

Floyd County reported 369 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday.

That makes 1,116 last two weeks.

One death was also reported.

There are 131 patients at Floyd, 116 are unvaccinated.

61 are on critical respiratory support.

There are also 68 COVID-19 patients at Redmond.
