STAFF REPORTS

Work on the Redmond Trail project is set to begin next week.

Jeff Burns with the Floyd County Engineering Department gave an update during Wednesday’s public utilities and transportation committee meeting.

“I’m very happy to report that will be under construction beginning Monday,” he said.  “It’s been a long time coming, so we are excited to see that moving along.”

The project has a price tag of just over $838,000.

It will be paid for with a federal grant, Georgia Department of Transportation funds, local matching funds, and $25,000 from TRED of Rome.

The trail will bridge over Little Dry Creek and ultimately connect downtown Rome on the west side of the river to Mt. Berry Trail.
