UPDATED:

Bartow Fire and Emergency Services responded to a two-alarm structure fire at 22 High Pointe Drive, White, Georgia, Wednesday around 12:45 p.m.  According to a press release, the split-level house off Bells Ferry Road was heavily involved with fire as crews arrived on the scene.

Crews initiated an aggressive attack and search but were unable to reach the victim due to the upstairs being fully involved with fire.

A deceased male was located upstairs in a bedroom as the fire was brought under control.  Officials say the removal of the victim was complicated by weakened floors.

A second alarm was requested for additional manpower due to high humidity and extremely hot weather conditions.

Once the victim was removed, overhaul operations were stalled by severe storms in the area with frequent lightning strikes.

The victim was released to the Bartow County Coroner’s office for identification.

The fire investigation was also stalled due to severe weather and will continue this week by the BCFES Fire Marshal’s office.

The house valued at $118,000 was a total loss.  One minor burn injury was sustained by a firefighter who was treated on scene.
