Report: Man fled from authorities

A 26-year old Rome man is accused of fleeing from authorities as they were trying to arrest him on outstanding warrants Monday.

According to Floyd County Jail records, Deltorius Devonte Thompson crossed through the intersections of East 9th Street and Maple Avenue and East 9th at 2nd Avenue while going more than 65 miles per hour.

Thompson further put the public at risk by ignoring red lights and other traffic, according to the report.

Thompson is charged with felony fleeing or attempting to elude and misdemeanor counts of reckless driving, failure to obey traffic control devices, and driving with a suspended or revoked license.

He was also arrested on warrants charging him with simple battery, 3rd-degree cruelty to children, and a probation violation.
