Floyd County’s jobless rate unchanged from April to May

Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said Thursday that Rome’s unemployment rate stayed at 3.6% from April to May.

The jobless rate in May of 2020 was 9.6%.

The labor force decreased in Rome by 443 but it’s still up by 933 when compared to May of 2020.

Rome finished the month with 42,443 employed residents.

That number decreased by 436 over the month and is up by 3,466 when compared to the same time a year ago.

Taking a look at the unemployment rates in surrounding counties.

Gordon County saw a 3.1% jobless rate in May, down from 3% in April.

Bartow County also reported a slight increase from 3.4% to 3.5%.

Chattooga County’s rate was down slightly, from 4.8% in April to 4.6% in May.

Polk County saw no change, holding steady at 3.4% for the second consecutive month.
