The Calhoun Police Department –

The Calhoun Police Department is pleased to announce it has received a $25,000 Grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS). The grant, which will continue through September 2021 will provide the much-needed funds to buy mobile data units for our department’s patrol vehicles and to facilitate the electronic reporting of all traffic crash data.

“The loss of one life on our roads is one too many, and the fact almost all fatal traffic crashes can be prevented is one reason why we are awarding this grant,” Allen Poole, Director of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety said. “The target of zero traffic deaths in our nation is achievable, and we will continue to help develop and implement educational messages, enforcement campaigns, and other safety initiatives aimed at bringing us one step closer to our goal.”

Calhoun Police Chief, Tony Pyle said. “We will continue to keep our city streets as safe as possible by partnering with the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety in participating in all enforcement campaigns and other safety initiatives to keep traffic deaths down. We, the Calhoun Police Department, will serve our community with the highest degree of honesty, integrity, and professionalism. We will meet the needs of our diverse community through the continued cooperation of our administration, and by cementing a bond between the citizenry, other area law enforcement agencies, and ourselves. We will not forget that we exist to serve and that by enforcing the law justly and fairly, we can bring stability into our society, as no other agency can.”

“This grant was awarded to a limited number of law enforcement agencies and we feel very fortunate to receive this grant.”
