The GBI’s Region One office in Calhoun is investigating the drowning death of a 3-year old child from Adairsville at Carters Lake Sunday.

The Murray County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a missing toddler in the area of Cove Road at around 2 p.m.

Malachi Holden was pulled from the water near where his family had been having a picnic and he was transported to AdventHealth Murray.

Despite CPR and other life-saving measures performed at the scene and at the hospital, the child was pronounced dead a short time later.
