The Floyd County Commission is expected to approve a bid for the Redmond Trail project when they meet tonight.

The low bidder is Lewallen Construction Company of Marietta in the amount of $838,153.01.

Also on the agenda for the meeting is a public hearing regarding a rezoning request on Turners Bend Road.

If approved, the rezoning would allow Georgia Pacific to put a ‘wet deck’ on the property.

A ‘wet deck’ is a storage facility where timber cut during the dry times of the year can be stored for the paper mill if they need it during the wet times of the year when timber is more difficult to cut.

The commission meeting will be held at the Forum River Center.

The caucus will begin at 4:00 p.m. in the Floyd Room, followed by the Board Meeting at 6:00 p.m. in the Ballroom.

The meetings are open to the public.

Everyone in attendance is asked to wear a mask and to practice social distancing.
