Rome Alcohol Control Commission meets Monday

The Rome Alcohol Control Commission will conduct a license hearing for the Calhoun EZ Stop on Calhoun Avenue when they Monday night.

The store was one of two businesses cited for selling alcohol to a person under the age of 21 when Rome City Police and the Alcohol and Tobacco Division of the Georgia Department of Revenue conducted a compliance check at several establishments on March 10.

The other business has already had a hearing and is currently serving a penalty for their violation.

Other agenda items for the ACC meeting include the issuance of a new beer and wine pouring license for the Country House Buffet at 144 Hicks Drive.

The ACC is also expected to once again revisit the issue of gaming machines.

The meeting begins at 5 p.m. at Rome City Hall.

ACC meeting is just one of three government meetings tonight.

The City of Rome’s Special Committee on Housing will get recaps or updates on the current housing landscape when they meet Monday afternoon.

The committee will also discuss workforce housing parameters, Unified Land Development Code recommendations, and ideas for new housing incentives.

The meeting starts at 4:30 p.m. in the Sam King Room at Rome City Hall.

Meanwhile, the Floyd County Board of Education will hold its May board meeting Monday evening at the central office on Riverside Parkway.

The caucus is at 5:00 pm and the board meeting is at 6:00 pm.

The board is expected to discuss providing financial incentives for teachers with perfect or near-perfect attendance along with other agenda items.

In addition, the 1st budget public hearing will be at 4:30 pm prior to Caucus.

The budget is set to be adopted at the board’s June 21 board meeting.
