City commission to discuss establishing landmarking committee

Rome City Commissioners will tackle a number of agenda items when they meet Monday night.

Commissioners are expected to discuss the framework for a Landmarking Committee during the meeting, which begins at 6:30 p.m. at Rome City Hall.

Landmarking could be used as a way to permanently recognize and memorialize local sites and structures that have historical, cultural, or architectural significance.

Other agenda items include a telecommunications agreement resolution, an operation and maintenance agreement for Barron Stadium, and proclamations honoring Bishop Nealon Guthrie and Peace Officers Memorial Day.

The annual Peace Officers Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 14 at 11:00 a.m. at the Law Enforcement Complex Memorial Plaza.
